We areKirklees MHST and we have an exciting opportunity to recruit TraineeEducational Mental Health Practitioner to join our growing team. Have you gotexperience in working with Children and Young People delivering well being ormental health support and advice? Would you like to take on a new challenge andcomplete a qualification in low intensity CBT? We areseeking applicants to join our Mental Health Support Team Kirklees Keep In Mindwho cover all of the schools in Kirklees. This is an exciting time to join ourteam which deliver evidence based interventions to children within our schoolswith mild to moderate mental health conditions. Focusing on early interventionwe also provide training and workshops to schools using the whole schoolapproach, which enables schools to provide a culture of well being for all theirpupils. Youwill be enrolled in the Post Graduate Diploma in MentalHealth Practice in Education Settings qualification at the University ofSheffield. During term time you will be required to attend the university fortwo days per week for 12 months. For full job description, please see attached supporting documents. Main duties of the job In this role you will go to university and have time in servicewhere you put the theory you learn into practice providing low intensity CBTinterventions to young people and their families with mild to moderate mentalhealth conditions under the expert supervision of our senior staff. You will deliver workshops and assemblies asrequired by schools on a variety of subjects according to the need of theirstudents. You will develop and form relationships with key wellbeing staffwithin the schools to promote and provide support in accessing our service. Youwill work collaboratively with the wider MHST (KKIM) team including parent andcommunity workers, educational psychologists and engagement officers to developknowledge in all areas of holistic care. You will form links with external agencies toincrease you knowledge of services available in this area. You will use thisknowledge to inform the team and to utilise when signposting young people. You will be involved in co-delivering parentworkshops to equip parents with the tools to manage their children's anxietiesand worries. All employees of the Trust are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect patients., In line with the governments priorityto increase access and availability of mental health and well being support forchildren and young people, the Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) roleis an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions forchildren and young people, working across both educational settings andhealthcare sectors in England. Successful candidates will be employedfull-time and based in Kirklees Mental Health Support Team, which will beresponsible for the delivery of mental health support across a range ofeducational settings in the region. For part of this role there will be arequirement to travel to Sheffield Trust and affiliated with the University ofSheffield?? for the teaching element of the training.
To enable this, all applicants mustdemonstrate in their application the ability to work at degree level or have anequivalent level of relevant experience, with a proven record of previouslearning or formal study in child development, well being or mental health.Further to that experience of working with children and young people and anunderstanding of the educational system in England is highly desirable.,
- Diploma level qualification or equivalent experience.
- Proven academic record or previous learning or formal study in Child Development, Well-being or Mental Health.
- Good solid basic literacy and numeracy qualifications at a minimum of level 2. Desirable
- Relevant Degree qualification.
- Teaching or education related qualification. Experience Essential
- Previous experience of working with children and young people and their families in either Health or Education settings.
- Experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional and / or behavioural difficulties. Desirable
- Experience of working with children and young people in either a healthcare or education setting.
- Experience of multiagency working. Skills and Competencies. Essential
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to study as a self-motivated learner who can monitor their won progress towards learning objectives. Desirable
- Skilled at engaging and building relationships with children, young people and their families.
- Ability to work collaboratively with young people, parents, colleagues and partner agencies., Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post.
- A satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years (subject to the need to act with fairness and equality of opportunity, particularly where the sickness is related to a disability and / or pregnancy). Knowledge. Essential
- Knowledge of the educational system in England.
- Knowledge of children and young people gained through academic study in child academic study in child development, child well being or mental health. Desirable
- Knowledge of safeguarding issues and legal framework.
- Knowledge of capacity and consent issues with young people.
- Knowledge of the whole school approach to mental health.
