About Us:

Help us to drive transformation and change at the Council with learning Grenfell at the centre of this change.

In Kensington and Chelsea, we put residents and communities at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. We are committed to embedding lessons from the Grenfell tragedy and using these to drive the wider transformation of the council and its services. Against the backdrop of an increasingly challenging financial environment, it is more important than ever that we put people at the heart our decisions, and that we use the resources available in the most effective way.

The Role:

This is a vital role that will help us deliver the Council's key priorities and drive meaningful change. Taking ownership of major Council change and transformation work, you will get directly involved in leading teams across the organisation as you coordinate delivery of major change programmes and delivery of the Council Plan Action Plan.

Guiding a range of interesting transformation and savings projects within our Corporate Strategy team, you will drive opportunities forward, directly line-managing a small team and working with numerous stakeholders to ensure objectives are being achieved. Happy to roll your sleeves up and get involved in a range of initiatives, you will lead by example as you resolve issues that threaten to derail initiatives, and you will help us deliver organisational changes that will lead to better outcomes for residents.

About You:

This is an exciting chance to shape the direction of a newly-created function as part of the Corporate Strategy Team and Grenfell, Communities and Transformation Directorate. To be equal to the challenge, you will therefore be an experienced change-maker, with significant experience of leading major organisational change, transformation and savings programmes that have resulted in enhanced services and resident experience. It is possible you will already have a background in the public sector, though it is more important that you have the ability to work in a political environment, and that you can get a team and stakeholders working together to achieve the best results. With a proactive approach to every challenge and a drive to deliver, you will present progress of your initiatives at committee and board level, so great communication and collaboration skills are essential. Exceptional analytical and line-management skills are also vital.

In turn, we can offer you a competitive benefits package that includes generous annual leave, staff discounts and an attractive contributory pension scheme. We will also provide you with a great work-life balance, enhanced by hybrid working. So if you are ready to do something exceptional with your skills, and get directly involved in initiatives that will enhance the lives of residents, we'd be delighted to receive your application.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV's alone will not be considered for this role.
