Full Job Description

This role is to drive improvement and transformation in transport operations across Africa providing a service of supporting operations, partnering with transport providers, and adding value to each market in the region. The role holder will work with a complex range of in market stakeholders (SCD, Supply, Finance, and Commercial) alongside Africa Planning and Logistic Team. This role will interact across cultures & have strong influence/impact within businesses and with external suppliers. The role holder will also need to engage and partner with key Diageo Supply Partners as well as external transport suppliers. Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Safety, Quality and Compliance - Ensure a ZERO harm (No LTAs) environment in Logistics through adapting the Diageo SFIP (sever and fatal incidents protocols).
  • Customer Service and Operational Efficiency - Influence the Transport Africa teams and 3PL to deliver a Safe, compliant, and efficient Operation (TAT, asset utilisation) for Materials, Finished Goods, and Returnable glass.
  • Cost and Productivity Savings: Deliver a cost-effective Transportation service within budget and delivering operational savings year on year.
  • Logistics Excellence: Lead and motivate the logistic market teams to deliver the regional requirements through Providing strategic, expert transport knowledge and understanding African dynamics to ensure continuous improvements and transformation of transport.

    Several years' experience as a transport manager at senior leadership level of road freight in a manufacturing company managing multiple sites in different countries.
  • Multiple years' experience of transport management in Africa
  • Demonstrable ability to engage and align stakeholders behind plans and win support for implementing change with transport suppliers.
  • Ability to lead in environments where influence is more important than formal authority.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of end to end supply chain and Customer collaboration
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written combined with the ability to engage effectively at all levels in the organisation.
  • An understanding of how leading technology can enable effective logistics operations.
  • Knowledge of TMS, GPS tracking and e-POD systems and experience of implementation of the same
  • Demonstrable ability to drive savings through transport optimisation.
  • Numerate and ability to apply KPI's to drive performance management at all levels with transport suppliers.
