Full Job Description

TCF has been established to enable mass affluent clients of financial planners and wealth managers to give effectively to charity through establishing their own Donor Advised Foundations (DAFs).

TCF is a registered charity, acting as an administration umbrella for clients to hold their own personal charitable funds. The client's Donor Advised Fund is effectively their own charitable trust, but without the burden of administration or level of costs associated with having a stand-alone charity.

Trustees are expected to ensure that TCF complies with and pursues its stated objectives, charity law and other relevant legislation or regulation; has effective and efficient administration; has financial stability; has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these. As a trustee, you will act in the best interests of the organisation.

The main responsibilities of the Treasurer will be to oversee the preparation and scrutiny of annual accounts, taking on some or all day to day financial duties, such as book-keeping, budgeting and preparation of reports; to monitor and advise on the financial viability of TCF; and to liaise with the independent examiner.

Person specification

Individuals who have the ability to think creatively and strategically and exercise good, independent judgement; has relevant financial qualifications and ideally, experience of charity accounting; financial management and oversight at a senior level; knowledge of or willingness to learn about the Charities Acts and Charity regulation and finance including Charities SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice); ability to analytically review financial data and communicate financial consequences; good verbal and written communication skills; eligibility to serve as a charity trustee. It is not necessary to have previous Trustee or Board committee experience.

Commitment

There are 4 main trustee meetings per year, 2 on-line and 2 in person.

The role of Trustee is unpaid although expenses for travel and out of pocket expenses may be claimed.
