Tutor

This fixed-term, part-time Tutor position at 25% FTE for 27 months from 01.05.2024 until 30.06.2027), funded exclusively through Prof. Harshinie Karunarathna's research grant from the Leverhulme Trust. The tutor, directly supervised by Prof. Harshinie Karunarathna, will cover and support teaching delivery and administrative responsibilities of Prof. Karunarathna. The role includes teaching modules, student assessment, and supervising undergraduate students. All duties will be directly related to cover Prof. Karunarathna's teaching responsibilities.

The candidate should be familiar with Prof. Karunarathna's teaching, specifically Coastal Processes and Engineering, and Coastal Flood Risk management. The candidate should possess research experience in principles of coastal dynamics, wave generation and transformation, nearshore coastal processes, wave generated currents in the surf zone, and coastal flood risk analysis and management as both teaching utilise aspects of related research. The candidate must be ready to teach immediately after the appointment. They also must be ready to support Prof. Karunarathna's undergraduate project students from the start of the role, some of which may be in collaboration with the Welsh Coastal Monitoring Centre (WCMC). As a result, they should be familiar with WCMC coastal data resources and field measuring programmes., As an inclusive and welcoming workplace, we value people for their skills regardless of their background. Welsh Language Skills
The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 1 - A little. The role holder will be able to pronounce Welsh words, answer the phone in Welsh (good morning/afternoon) and use very basic everyday words and phrases (thank you, please etc.). Level 1 can be reached by completing a 1 hour course.
