Full Job Description
The post holder will provide a high quality reception and support service within an inpatient setting. The successful candidate will need to be able to communicate well with patients and their relatives, the general public and a wide range of multi-professional staff, internal and external to the Trust. In order to provide a support service to the technical staff, a versatile approach is essential and the ability to cope with a large number of different tasks simultaneously is a requirement of this post. If you are highly organised, methodical in your approach, enjoy patient contact and working within a team then we can offer you a varied and exciting role where you will play a big part in making a difference for our patients. PAS knowledge preferred but not essential., + To provide clerical support and assist the Ward Manager or her Deputy on the admission/transfer and discharge of patients.
+ To greet and direct all visitors e.g. patients, relatives, Chaplains, to the appropriate member of staff or patient.
+ To update the inpatient diary, ensuring all details are accurate and up to date and correspond with PAS.
+ To keep records up to date by using PAS i.e. patients admitted, transferred, discharged from the Ward.
+ Liaise with nursing staff over the discharge of patients, including where appropriate the collection of property from General Office, dispatching notes, arranging transport to peripheral areas.
+ To prepare the clinical coding form, inpatient sick certificate and GP discharge letters for each patient episode and ensure it is completed by medical staff. To ensure that all documentation is complete when the patient is discharged from the ward and that the discharge letter is received by theGPs within 24 hours.
+ To arrange where appropriate follow-up outpatient appointments.
+ Ensure that admission procedures and regulations for Overseas Visitors are met including EC patients.
+ To provide Bed Management with an accurate bed state on an agreed timely basis.
+ To manage all incoming, non-medical telephone calls as appropriate and deal with them either by delegating or referring calls to other staff or returning calls as necessary. To ensure confidentiality maintained at all times.

Travelling to work
Staff parking is available onsite; however, this is limited during core working hours. We have more capacity in the evening and at weekends and can usually provide spaces during those hours.
We look to allocate these spaces fairly. Our Travel Office have a set of criteria that staff must meet in order to qualify. If you qualify for a space, you may be placed on a waiting list if we are at full capacity.
The NNUH is served by a number of public buses, and we offer generously discounted monthly passes with First Bus & Konect.
The Costessey Park and Ride runs regularly each day from 06:30 (from P&R) to 20:45 (from NNUH) and this service is free for NHS staff. There is a regular Thickthorn P&R service as well which is free. Applications to the Travel Office are required for this service. We also have a discounted service from the airport P&R if you purchase a bundle. Please see Konect website for further details.
The NNUH host multiple bicycle racks and a salary sacrifice scheme. We also benefit from a Beryl station onsite.

DBS

We are looking to recruit to our Delivery Suite team at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. This is a part time contract which will require some flexibility in a working pattern to ensure the service is covered 24/7 7 days a week. The successful candidate will be required to cover other reception areas within women's and children's should we require cover due to sickness or annual leave. The successful candidate will be part of a large friendly team.
Working hours - Week 1: 12 hours 2 days a week (07:00-19:30 Wednesday & Thursday)
Week 2: 12 hours 1 days a week (07:00-19:30 Friday)
