Full Job Description
The Finance Director will carry out accounting, reporting and control activities for the Engineered Ceramics Business Unit (BU) and ensure they are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with best practice and the Morgan Policies. It includes the full Budget process, Month End reporting, organising the Limits of Authorities Schedule and being Person of Contact for Internal and External Audits.,
- As a member of the Business Units Senior Leadership Team, this key role will be a primary thought partner on all key decisions-from strategy-setting to driving flawless execution.
- Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, ensure that all compliance-related items and best practices are applied throughout the business unit.
- Complete all financial reporting requirements for the business accurately and submission within STAR (Group consolidation system) in a timely manner, including but not limited to: + Weekly sales and order information + Monthly rolling forecasts and actual submissions + Annual Strategic Plan and Budget submissions + Supplementary quarterly analysis to support disclosure for Head Office/PLC reporting requirements
- Ensure the business maintains robust internal controls which will ensure compliance with financial regulations and group policies
- Ensuring the balance sheet is reconciled and controlled effectively e.g. ensuring appropriate inventory valuation, fixed asset register maintained etc.
- Monitoring and controlling working capital, optimising and reporting as required
- Planning and reporting on cash position as well as managing working capital to optimum levels
- Driving business system improvements and working cross functionally to propose and achieve cost reduction targets Risk, Compliance & Ethics, Environment & Safety
- Ensure adherence to Morgan Internal Controls and Group Policies.
- Supervising and controlling the annual external audit and internal audit processes and being the main finance point of contact between Audit Team and Business.
- Supporting completion of statutory accounts and assistance with filings of other holding company accounts
- Supporting completion of tax pack for group reporting purposes and ensuring compliance with other tax related areas.
- Have adequate and up to date knowledge of Morgan's Compliance Policy and Requirements
- Have adequate knowledge of health and safety regulation within their areas of control, observe the legislation and codes of practice, ensure all statutory registers and records are maintained.
- Ensure that all of your team are competent, adequately trained, supervised and have sufficient instruction and information to enable them to carry out their duties.
- Responsible for promoting and supporting the Morgan Purpose, Strategy and Values and leading by example at all times. Strategy
- Provide analysis, interpretation and insight to business management (Sales and R&D) of financial results, highlighting risks and opportunities, and offering conclusions and commentary to help drive the business forward.
- Collect the capital expenditure projects from the sites with appropriate justification, organize sign off according the financial authorities and monitor spend against approved budgets. People & Culture
- Support in the development of talent for the business and future leaders for the Morgan succession pipeline.
- Follow Morgan Leadership Behaviours and act as role model
- Drive innovation leading to improvements in analysis and business information provision.
- Utilise lean tools to drive efficiency and effectiveness improvements throughout the Engineered Ceramics BU.
Requirements of Role: - Minimum 5 years' experience leading a global finance function for a P&L
- Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting
- Finance and Accountant skills
- Familiar with Budget and Strat Plan Process
- Strong PC skills, especially Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of IT systems and processes, including ERP mechanisms.
- Knowledge of STAR System
- Ability to advise on strategic financial matters.
- Experience of business partnering as Senior Leader and contributing to the success of the Senior Management Team.
- A working knowledge of legal, contractual and commercial business processes
- Ability to prepare, present and administer proposals, budgets, capital submissions and other business materials using appropriate media.
- Good communications skills with ability to articulate logical arguments to gain understanding and agreement in a wide range of management scenarios.
- Cultural understanding and experience of working in a global environment.
- Experience of ownership of financial reporting and control working for a global multinational.
- Natural leader with experience of leading & managing remote teams, both directly and indirectly.
- Real eye for detail and ability to see the bigger picture.
