Full Job Description

We are an inclusive employer and want to ensure all our applicants have the same opportunity for success. Please inform us of any support or reasonable adjustment you may need as a result of a disability, long term health condition, neurodiversity or other personal circumstances, to enable you to perform to the best of your ability during the recruitment process (for example extra assessment time, visual adjustment, special access request). Please contact a member of our talent team if reasonable adjustments are required. Our email is Careers.UK&I@stantec.com and a member of our team will be happy to assist.

You'll be a great fit if you have:

  • A relevant degree and full membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • Experience in environmental consultancy or a relevant industry sector.
  • Expertise in environmental impact assessments (EIAs) across various project types (real estate, energy, water, infrastructure).
  • Strong understanding of the UK planning system (Town & Country Planning and DCO regimes).
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • A passion for sustainability and a desire to make a positive impact.

Stantec Environmental Planners (Senior Consultant to Associate) in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
  • Are you passionate about finding solutions to environmental, socio-economic and sustainability issues? Are you a skilled EIA specialist and project manager? Do you want to work for one of the most sustainable companies in the world? If so, we would love to hear from you! Our growing Environmental Planning team is seeking talented and experienced individuals (Senior Consultant to Associate level) to join our team across various locations in the UK (primarily London, Reading, Bristol, Taunton, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh but we are open to considering other Stantec office locations). At Stantec, with every community we redefine what is possible. In addition to helping solve some of the key challenges around unlocking the delivery of housing and infrastructure projects, you will join us in working on innovative projects in renewable energy (solar, battery storage and energy networks) and decarbonisation (carbon capture storage, transport and technology). You will also be contributing to building the nations resilience to climate change and improving water quality through the delivery of various water projects. You will have the opportunity to work within a range of planning regimes (including NSIP / DCO and TCPA) helping our clients efficiently meet their objectives in a safe, environmentally, and socially sustainable manner., The Stantec community unites more than 31,000 employees working in over 450 locations across 6 continents. We have been working with our clients and communities in the UK for over 150 years. We plan, design, deliver and manage the development and infrastructure needed to support the creation of sustainable, healthy and prosperous communities. Our teams provide effective and relevant solutions, translating our clients' vision into valued consents, deliverable plans for projects and programmes, and efficient designs for delivery, based on technical excellence and deep market insights. We deal with today's challenges, but also keep a fairer, better tomorrow in sight, looking at how we deliver clean growth, support radical changes in our economy and meet the needs of future communities. Stantec provides equal employment opportunities to all qualified employees and applicants for future and current employment and prohibit discrimination on the grounds of race, colour, religion, sex, national origin, age, marital status, genetic information, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. We prohibit discrimination in decisions concerning recruitment, hiring, referral, promotion, compensation, fringe benefits, job training, terminations or any other condition of employment. Stantec is in compliance with laws and regulations and ensures equitable opportunities in all aspects of employment. Building an inspired, inclusive work environment that attracts, supports, and develops world-class talent is a crucial key to our success. If you are excited by this role but worry that your experience doesn't exactly align, we encourage you to apply.

We believe that it is our people and their individual talents that make us special. We work within a friendly, inclusive, and supportive culture and one of high support and high challenge, where we are not afraid to take on new and greater responsibilities and are each individually encouraged to grow and flourish both personally and professionally, with genuine career opportunities based on merit. We create a working environment that offers flexibility, adopting a hybrid approach to agile working and offer a wide range of benefits including a generous pension scheme, life assurance, private health care and a flexi-benefits package allowing you to choose benefits that are truly valuable to you, including the opportunity to buy and sell holiday.
