Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Health &Safety Team for a Trust-wide Health and Safety Advisor. The key function of the Health and Safety Advisor is toprovide the professional expertise to enable The Rotherham Foundation Trust toachieve the highest possible standards of patient and staff safety. The Health & Safety Team provides a range ofmultidisciplinary specialist expert advice and assistance to a wide range ofservices, staff and senior managers. The successful candidate must have provenorganisational skills and be committed to consistently delivering a quality service,which promotes good customer service and effective working relationships.Significant experience of undertaking risk assessments, compiling reports andcompliance is essential together with a sound understanding of health andsafety legislation. The role will require a flexible approach to work, with theability to manage their workload and the reporting teams and to be able to workas part of a team and also under their own initiative., Please see attached the job description and person specificationfor the full details about the role and the responsibilities.
The Health & Safety Team provides a range of multidisciplinaryspecialist expert advice and assistance to a wide range of services, staff andsenior managers. Significantexperience of undertaking risk assessments, compiling reports and compliance isessential together with a sound understanding of health and safety legislation. - Experience of health and safety from working in a large, complex organisation over multiple sites, preferably within a healthcare setting.
- Experience in the management and supervision of staff.
- Experience of developing and maintaining risk assessments, including COSHH assessments, general risk assessments.
- Experience of developing, maintaining and continuously improving health and safety management systems.
- Experience of developing and writing health and safety policies and procedures.
- Experience of managing databases to store complex information.
- Experience of writing clear and concise reports, to inform policy and provide information and assurance.
- Experience of developing and delivering risk assessment training packages to audiences at all levels.
- Experience of auditing against legislation, policy and guidance documents. Knowledge Essential
- Working knowledge of NHS / and or healthcare systems and process, language and terminology.
- Knowledge of relevant current issues in health and social care.
- Knowledge of key issues that relate to health and safety.
- Demonstrates awareness of limits to knowledge base., Professional knowledge acquired through a relevant degree (level 6) or relevant experience.
- NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent (or working towards). Desirable
- NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire and Risk Management.
- Certified membership of IOSH (or working towards).
