Would you like to manage your own area of Lincolnshire's highway network, ordering repairs and delivering an excellent level of customer service to highway users? Due to current post holders progressing quickly through the structure we are offering an exciting opportunity for a Highways Officer to join our Local Highways team in the North area of the County, ensuring the safety of the Lincolnshire highway network and delivering an outstanding response to enquiries from members of the public.

About the Role
You will be responsible for their own area as part of a team covering a quarter of the county's highway through Local Highways North. There is a varied workload that challenges the officer to prioritise engineering solutions in their area based on the safety, serviceability and function for the public.

This workload includes highways maintenance, highways safety inspections, Highways Act enforcement, reaction to highways emergency events, environmental improvements and acting as a public interface for all highways services.

The post holder will contribute to a conscientious culture of proactive, future-focused service delivery that is accountable and engaging to our customers.

Our Local Highways Teams continue to deliver an excellent service by agile working, on site with mobile technology and by working from home and in the local service area commutable to the base of Sleaford.

We are looking for candidates who are knowledgeable and experienced within the highways sector that can work effectively within their own area of expertise (whilst developing their skills on a daily basis), supporting their team, collaborating with colleagues across the service to deliver the best outcomes for our customers in Lincolnshire.

To do this a combination of technical knowledge and good communication skills will be required, underpinned by a dedication to the customer and drive to achieve targets.

You will ideally hold HNC or Eng Tech in appropriate discipline, however applicants with suitable industry experience will be considered.

Streetworks accreditation and Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) registration is desirable but not essential.

You will be flexible and responsible, with good interpersonal skills allowing you to work within a dynamic and diverse team.

You will be required to drive at work on a daily basis therefore a full and valid driver's license is essential., Disability Confident

About the Team
Lincolnshire County Council's Local Highways Management Team provide a front-line service and essential maintenance to one of the biggest highways networks in the country.

There are four Local Highways Teams covering the North, East, South and West of the county who work in partnership with both internal Operational Asset Management teams and external contractors within the Lincolnshire Highways.

LCC is recognised as a leading light in the Highways Sector, becoming one of the first 2 "Band 3" authorities in the country in the Department for Transport incentivised funding, as well as previously winning the Highways Management award at the MJ awards.
