Head of Family Law - Build and Lead a New Department
Location: Leeds or Harrogate/Hybrid | Salary: Competitive + Benefits
About Us
Truth Legal was founded in 2012 with a clear mission: to provide ethical, tenacious, and affordable legal services. Now with offices in Harrogate, Leeds, and Hull, we specialise in Personal Injury, Immigration, Employment, Clinical Negligence, and Litigation. We're now expanding into Family Law - and we have a clear work-stream ready for an experienced solicitor to take the lead.
The Opportunity
This isn't just another role-it's a rare opportunity to build and lead a new Family Law department with an established flow of work. You'll have the autonomy to shape the department's strategy, implement best practices, and grow a team while delivering exceptional legal services.
We're looking for someone who either has the proven experience of building a legal department or, more likely, someone with exceptional technical expertise in family law who is ready to step out of the traditional legal hierarchy.
If you've ever thought, "I could do this better," this is your chance to prove it. This is your opportunity to shape not just a department but a career path that reflects your vision and values.
What You'll Do
- Lead and establish a new Family Law department.
- Manage an active caseload, handling complex family law matters from day one.
- Set the vision and strategy, aligning with the firm's ethos.
- Drive business development, expanding the department and building strong client relationships.
- Ensure compliance and efficiency, implementing best practices and systems.
- Hire, train, and mentor a talented team.
What We're Looking For
- Qualified solicitor with 4+ years PQE in Family Law.
- Strong technical expertise in all areas of family law.
- Proven leadership experience or a genuine passion for building a department.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with business development skills.
- Excellent client care, communication, and negotiation abilities.
Why Join Us?
- Established work-stream with immediate caseload.
- Competitive salary + benefits.
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays and a wellbeing day.
- Gym membership contribution and private health insurance.
- Pension scheme, death in service benefit, and EAP support.
- A collaborative, forward-thinking firm with a strong ethical foundation.
If you're ready to hit the ground running and shape the future of Family Law at Truth Legal, we want to hear from you. Apply today!
