Full Job Description
- Lead the development of the vehicle simulation tools and methods used throughout the company
- Lead the development of the underlying numerical and optimization methods
- Research, develop, and implement state-of-the-art simulation methodologies to aid in the optimization of vehicle performance and vehicle development
- Lead the development of automated model correlation and testing routines
- Responsible for optimizing the computation efficiency and robustness of all simulation tools
- Contribute to the development of the vehicle physics model
- Prepare documentation and presentations for software users and technical management
- Coordinate and communicate development priorities with other departments
- Define group skills targets/matrix and implement development plans
- Define and implement processes to ensure quality of released software
Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field - Extensive experience developing simulation models and tools, ideally within Formula 1 or another high-level motorsport environment
- Previous management experience would be beneficial
- Strong coding in C/C++ and good knowledge of C#, Python, Matlab, Simulink, and/or Modelica would be advantageous
- Expertise developing simulation software and solving computational engineering problems
- Expert knowledge of numerical methods and optimization methodology
- Expert in developing lap time simulation tools and methodologies
- Strong background in many of the following areas:
- Optimization Methods
- Mathematical modelling and simulation
- Computational efficiency Good understanding of physical mechanics, engineering dynamics, thermal science, and fluid dynamics would be beneficial Highly self-motivated, dedicated, creative, result-oriented, and able to work independently with a very high attention to detail Capable of weighing and balancing competing priorities and short- vs long-term objectives while maintaining quality Dedicated, persevering, open-minded, innovative, and a team-player
