Full Job Description

Consultant Senior Lecturer in primary care responsible for leading on grant applications and establishing a programme of research that will inform and improve primary care; who will develop, oversee and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the Bristol Medical School; and who will contribute to the School and the wider university in terms of leadership and citizenship. Starting date for the appointment is August 2025.

What will you be doing?

The postholder will be expected to establish his/her own coherent programme of research within a defined area of interest. They will be expected to lead on the development of collaborative project grant applications and ultimately to establish their own research team. Collaborations will be expected to involve as appropriate, other members of Centre for Academic Primary Care, the West of England Primary Care Partnership, colleagues across Population Health Sciences, and colleagues in other academic centres of primary care both in and outside the NIHR School for Primary Care Research, of which Bristol is a member. In addition to securing grant funding, and leading on, conducting and disseminating research, the post holder will also be expected to undertake teaching and administrative duties commensurate with a senior lecturer appointment in the Bristol Medical School.

Academic general practitioner with a strong track record of academic achievement in terms of research, teaching, leadership and citizenship. The post is full-time, and it is envisaged that this post will consist of 8 academic sessions and 2 clinical sessions per week, but this balance is negotiable.
