Full Job Description

Chelmsford City Council's Accountancy service is recruiting a part time Accountant to join the Revenue Management team, working with services across the Council to help prepare budgets, monitor these budgets and identify any future budget shortfalls or cost savings.

The successful applicant will have experience of providing financial advice to Council services and undertaking general accountancy work in the past. The applicant will also have the skills necessary to communicate with colleagues across the Council and to interpret financial information from various sources.

This role provides a unique opportunity to work with a variety of services to identify ways of reducing Local Authority financial pressures and to add value to the service that Accountancy provides to the rest of the council.

The base for working is the Council's Civic Centre offices but flexible working including working from home is available.

The position is available on a part time basis, working 18.5 hours per week, with the pattern of work to be agreed upon appointment.

Interviews are currently scheduled for the week commencing the 16th December with the successful applicant starting in the New Year.
