Full Job Description

To assist the Practitioner Psychologist(s) in the professional psychological care of children and families within Paediatrics, providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified practitioner psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the Paediatric Psychology policies and procedures. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects, teaching
and project work., To undertake protocol based psychological assessments of children and families under the supervision of a qualified practitioner psychologist, applying psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the
client's care. This may require assessing children and their families in a number of settings including clinic, home and school/childcare setting., To help formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client's needs, (mental health, learning disabilities and developmental needs), based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings, under the supervision of the qualified practitioner psychologist.
To undertake risk assessments as required under the supervision of the qualified practitioner psychologist and to develop risk management plans.
To assist in the evaluation and decision making about treatment options, taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models, and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual family or group.
To work with other staff to assess clients in community and hospital settings, and to review their care in preparation for multi-disciplinary reviews.

The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2024/2025 and will be implemented in November 2024 backdated to 1st April 2024 where applicable.
