Full Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Secretary/Coordinator to join our team within the Community Paediatric Service of the Children and Families Division, on a 6-month Fixed Term basis. This is primarily a Coordinator role to oversee the administrative function for citywide Child Protection Medicals.

The post will based at Allens Croft Children's Centre. The work pattern will be Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.

This interesting and varied role requires the ability to work well on your own initiative whilst being committed to teamwork.You will responsible for the provision of a comprehensive administrative service to the Safeguarding Lead Consultant Community Paediatrician. Alongside supporting the Doctors in Training and Medical Secretaries who help the service provision for Child Protection Medicals., To provide an efficient and comprehensive administration service to the Named Doctor for Safeguarding Children and Young People. Including supporting the delivery and function for the Community Paediatric Service provision of Child Protection Medicals.

To work collaboratively with and oversee other medical secretarial colleagues to ensure Child Medicals are carried out and Reports are produced and distributed within acceptable and agreed timescales.

The post holder will carry out duties in such a way as to make a direct and positive contribution to the organisation of the work. Providing day to day support to the Named Doctor. It is essential that the post holder should exercise initiative commensurate with the role and that confidentiality is maintained at all times.

Duties will include organising and minute taking at meetings, handling telephone calls, liaising closely with Doctors and Administrative colleagues and monitoring correspondence around Child Protection Medicals. The typing of confidential, complex and often sensitive clinical reports is also an integral part of the role.

You will have the ability to work under pressure, prioritise your workload to meet deadlines and to deal with confidential and sensitive issues in a professional manner.
