Full Job Description

+ You will work alongside registered practitioners and peer mentor as part of the Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion team under the direction of the team leads.
+ You will manage a caseload of clients, aiding and encouraging their engagement with services.
+ You will work with service users ' families and friends to ensure a holistic understanding of their circumstances.
+ You will signpost service users to, and encourage engagement with, appropriate services.
+ You will develop links into the community and agencies to enable improved, supported access to services.

As part of the selection process you may be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, however all cases of criminal record history are dealt with on a case by case basis.
Please note, if applicable for your role you will be required to cover the cost of your DBS certificate. This will be deducted from your salary over 3 months. You will also be required to sign up to the DBS Update Service before commencement with the Trust.
All successful applicants will be required to complete the Trust's induction programme. The Fundamental (Statutory and Mandatory) training will be in an e-learning format. You will be required to complete training modules online (approx. 9-14 hours depending on post) by the end of your first week with us.

The Birmingham & Solihull RECONNECT Service working within HMP Birmingham and Outreach in the community are looking to recruit a versatile and motived STR worker, with their own lived experience of the Criminal Justice System, to join the team to help deliver a high quality service to individuals who are often the most marginalised within society.
STRs are a key part of Health and Justice Service, as they assist clients who are typically hard to engage, building trust and a rapport to gain a holistic understanding of their circumstances and how to improve them. The successful post holder will support individuals in their release from the Prison estate through the transition to successful integration back into the community. This involves working with them before they leave to support their transition to community-based services. The service aims to improve the wellbeing of people leaving prison, reduce inequalities and address health-related drivers/inequalities. STRs will assist service users to access support, providing individualised packages of care drawing directly from their own lived experience of being involved in the Criminal Justice System.
You will need to be an excellent communicator, resourceful and creative in overcoming potential challenges for your service users and able to demonstrate resilience as you proactively support your service users and liaise with partner agencies.
