Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust ("BCHC") has a great opportunity for a Legal Services Manager to join us on a permanent full-time basis. The successful applicant will be a solicitor with a current Practicing Certificate looking for a diverse and challenging work environment within a dynamic and growing team., The Legal Services Manager role is based within our Information Governance & Legal Services Team, reporting to our Head of Information Governance & Legal Services. Our Legal Services Team is directly involved in and responsible for all the legal aspects of BCHC's activities, supporting all directorates including Clinical Directorates and specialist teams within our Corporate Directorate. We also work with and procure external Legal Services to support the Legal Services Team.
As the Legal Services Manager for BCHC, you will work collaboratively with our wider Corporate Governance Team and internal clients within BCHC, to ensure that legal tasks are carried out and coordinated efficiently. With your professional, confident and diligent manner, you will display exceptional communication skills in working with internal and external partners. You will also have excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise your workload, pay high attention to detail, and undertake your day to day role with minimal supervision.
As a practising solicitor you will represent BCHC in court proceedings, particularly in the Coroner's Court and the Court of Protection, and oversee claims made against the Trust.

+ A practising Solicitor with a current Practising Certificate
+ Significant experience of working within a legal team
+ Experience of managing legal staff / lawyers
+ Relevant experience of handling requests from HM Coroner
+ Experience of presenting in court and at inquests
+ Experience of producing reports
+ Relevant experience of providing training/raising awareness of legal issues
+ Experience of drafting legal documents
+ Experience of negotiating settlements with damages and costs
+ Experience of using database and word processing software
+ Knowledge of relevant statutory obligations
Desirable:
+ Relevant experience (a minimum of three years' relevant post qualification experience gained in an in-house setting within England & Wales)
+ Good internal knowledge of the NHS
