Full Job Description

Operational Performance

  • Overseeing a Transport operation delivering to Branches and other customers in line with the agreed service level.
  • Ensuring full legislative compliance across all areas including EU driving regulations and the working time directive, whilst clearly operating within health and food safety guidelines and RDC operational procedures.
  • Support the delivery of the Business Plan to maximise efficiency.
  • Monitoring and maintaining costs within budget, maximising productivity and manage the usage of overtime and agency to improve costs.
  • Managing a diverse vehicle fleet comprising Tractors,Trailers and rigids operating multi
  • temperature composite loads.
  • Monitor and action the vehicle maintenance programme and ensure all defects are identified, correctly reported and rectified.
  • To control the department resources.
  • Inclusive of Partners, agency and equipment, to deliver Key Performance Indicators
  • Effectively communicating operational and business plans and changes to the management team and Partners.
  • To promote a culture of Continuous Improvement across the department with the deployment of the relevant support mechanisms and tools. Design and implement new projects that will improve the efficiency of the operation and improve Branch service and cost savings.
  • Ensuring all Personnel policies and procedures are followed that enable Partners to be treated fairly and with respect in line with the Partnership Principles.
  • To coach,support and develop the Partner and Management team to enhance job satisfaction and to fulfil their potential and help advancement.
  • Promote and emulate the partnership values, promote and support Partnership democracy and way of working within not only the site but the department.
  • To oversee the site as Duty Manager on a rotating basis, 24 hours a day 7 days, controlling all chambers and the transport operation and offering assistance to the Branches and other Distribution Centres.

    Certificate of Professional Competency qualification for Transport Managers (Road Haulage)
  • Extensive Transport knowledge of current EU regulations Extensive knowledge in Commercial Fleet Management Desirable skills Senior management experience in a Transport / Distribution environment Extensive knowledge of Health and Safety and Transport legislation Experience of dealing with full disciplinary procedures according to ACAS guidelines Experience in using Transport systems such as Microlise, C3 and Paragon

    Salary range - For this role the salary starts from £39,400 per annum, plus 20% shift premium calculated on the base rate. Contract type - Permanent Work Pattern - 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday 04:00-12:00, You'll be asked about any adjustments you might need to support the recruitment process.
