Full Job Description

+ Provide visible leadership that delivers high quality services for patients, recognising the different needs across geographical areas.
+ Will have service budget responsibility and achieve excellent financial and non-financial performance across the service.
+ Meet the full range of service activity targets, achieving full compliance against a wide range of quality indicators.
+ Work closely with commissioners and stakeholders to maximise the benefits to the local populations through improved service delivery and ongoing transformation.
+ Support staff, leading the development of the workforce and ensuring that Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust is the preferred NHS employer of choice locally.
+ Develop an effective and motivated workforce, which delivers services that are fit for purpose.

+ Full GDC registration
+ Experience of working in a Community Dental Service
+ Experience in management or leadership of a locality or specialised area of clinical service
+ Experience of the planning and management of significant change and innovation with demonstrable results
+ Experience of working with clinicians and healthcare workers at a strategic level
+ Experience of managing budgets & procurement

Berkshire Community Dental Service (CDS) provides high quality dental care for a wide spectrum of people who are unable to access care in general dental practice. We provide a comprehensive range of oral health care services for priority groups that may include people with learning difficulties, physical handicaps, mental health problems, medically compromised, severe anxiety or phobias.
The care is provided in a variety of settings across Berkshire including dental clinics, schools and day centres, Dental Access Centres, secure mental health establishments and hospitals. Services include inhalation sedation, intra-venous sedation and general anaesthetic. Domiciliary care is also provided in care, residential and nursing homes and private residences. The service also provides Oral Health Education and Epidemiology.
BHFT has developed a quality management improvement system QMIS which gives staff the tools and creates a culture where everyone can make small continuous improvements to the objectives that are meaningful to their service. It is anticipated that the Chief Dentist will work to embed this within the service.
