Are you a highly experienced Manufacturing Engineer with a background in machining, inspection, welding, and non-destructive examination, who is excited by the opportunity to develop teams and capabilities both within an organisation and in the supply chain? Are you drawn to interesting manufacturing technologies and projects and motivated by the opportunity to develop suppliers and partners, heading up projects and building high performing teams/functions? If so, you might enjoy solving some of the nuclear industry's most important manufacturing challenges across a variety of clients. In this role, you will be building and enabling a high-performing team to assess and develop new and existing suppliers, processes/methods and testing procedures, for manufacturing of future high integrity components. You will work collaboratively with designers and manufacturers to solve problems and implement solutions in manufacturing compatibility for a broad spectrum of components including fabrications, machined parts, and instrumentation and controls. You and the team you grow will be supporting the UK Submarine and Nuclear New Build programmes across exciting and complex opportunities, offering the opportunity to provide innovative solutions to a range of problems for several high-profile clients. Whichever projects you get involved in, you'll be developing a procurement oversight capability spanning key national infrastructure and security programmes, so you'll be making an important and rewarding contribution to the energy, environmental, and national security of the UK.   • This role will be based in our Sheffield office.
  • You will establish and lead a team to deliver manufacturing / procurement excellence in support of critical national infrastructure and defence programmes. You and your team will interface with multidisciplinary teams to deliver benefit from the collective experience of the team, our clients, and drive innovative thinking. You'll work in a collaborative and supportive office / site environment for a minimum of half of your working week. You may also be based at client offices or supplier sites. You will bring an exceptional level of commercial awareness to your role, developing and enabling your team to effectively deliver procurement oversight for multiple workstreams and to deliver to time, quality, and cost., The UK is the first major economy to legislate for a Net Zero target by 2050.     Critical to this role is the ability to build internal and external relationships including mentorship and development of the engineering team. The ability to build your team with appropriate skills, knowledge and experience, is key.
  • Qualified to degree level and/or HNC, HND and apprentice trained in a manufacturing discipline.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing technologies and their application/key benefits/limitations.
  • Understand the application of tools including, design for manufacture and assembly, structure problems solving, capability analysis, failure modes and effects analysis etc.
  • Ability to enable a team in reviewing our supply chain, their process controls against our requirements, prior and during manufacturing stages and use assessment tools to realign these.
  • Ability to define requirements in a structured and effective manner.
  • Understanding and application of measurement technologies and capabilities, from first principles to modern CMM systems.
  • Great networks and ability to develop sound relationships within the team, client and supply chain.
  • Generation of reports and collation of technical data, for life time records.
