Full Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Chief SpR Fellow in Medicine, with an interest in leadership, management and quality improvement for a 1 year appointment.

Your role provides senior trainees with 40% protected time to develop skills and confidence in leadership, management and quality improvement. Learning that chief registrars gain from the Royal College of Physicians' (RCP's) bespoke development programme will be put into practice in a supported environment that provides autonomy, flexibility and support to develop and support projects that address key local challenges and priorities. This may include service improvement, engagement and morale, education and training, workforce, and sustainability.

You will also spend 0.6 WTE undertaking clinical activities within the Acute Medical Unit. You will be part of an enthusiastic and dynamic team that aims to deliver excellent patient care and experience within its acute services. You will be part of our large team of doctors, managers and emergency staff and will have full access to the training and development opportunities available within our general and tertiary referral centre., The Chief Registrar role is a leadership role for senior specialty trainees in the medicine division, within Acute Medicine. The role provides 40-50% protected time to develop and implement local initiatives focusing on, for example, service improvement, engagement and morale, education and training, workforce and sustainability.

Key aspects of the role include:

involvement in trust management at a high level

involvement with internal medicine (In particular the acute medical take)

mentoring by senior clinical managers

The post would suit someone who would like to take a year out during their higher training or an overseas doctor with at least 12 months previous experience in an NHS acute care speciality.
