The "Foundation Year 3" posts consist in Castle ward, which has Diabetes & Endocrinology, Rheumatology and general Medicine Patients. This post predominantly involve daytime ward based work with some weekend daytime working. Duration of posts can be varied between to accommodate travel or other commitments. Post holders are entitled to study leave and can attend trust teaching appropriate to their grade (co-ordinated a department ensuring adequate ward staffing cover). We are in the process of creating a dedicated monthly teaching programme for the Foundation Year 3 cohort. We are determined to support successful applicants with career progression and actively encourage and support involvement in Quality Improvement, learning and exam/interview preparation. The Foundation Year 3 Doctors now have a dedicated Clinical Tutor to ensure there is an educational aspect to the posts.Main duties of the job Please see full job description and person spec attached to this vacancy for details relating to this post.   • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Advanced Life Support certification
  • GMC registered to practice
  • Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate qualifications or diplomas
  • Teaching qualifications, Completion of Foundation year 2
  • Previous experience of working in the NHS as a doctor.
  • Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in Rheumatology, Diabetes or Endocrinology
  • Post registration experience working in other specialties relevant to the role.
  • Provider status in one of the following: ALS, ATLS, Meets professional health requirements (in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice), Punctuality and Time management
  • Desirable criteria
  • Publications in peer reviewed journals
  • Poster or spoken presentations, Ability to undertake responsibility
  • Be able to work under pressure and cope with stressful situations
  • Ability to work as part of a team and be flexible, Demonstrated experience working in a team, values the input of other professionals in the team

The hospital achieved Foundation Trust status on 1^st June 2006. It was the first Foundation Trust in the South Central Strategic Health Authority.
