The successful applicant will be responsible for the provision of emergency and elective general anaesthesia to the population of SBUHB within scope of practice reflected in provisional 'Job Plan' (please see Job Description)
The on-call commitment will be to the hybrid General rota at Morriston Hospital. In addition to emergency care, it will include burns admissions out of hours and urgent burns surgery in-hours on the weekend. The on-call consultant rota is split into 2 tiers. The 1^st on-call being the initial responder and the 2^nd on-call who will provide support within the health board, where deemed necessary by the 1^st on-call and clinical requirement.

We are looking for a Consultant Anaesthetist to join our established team. The post will support the reconfiguration of the Burns Centre and development of services as part of the COVID 19 recovery plan.
This post will be based at Morriston Hospital and will support the reconfiguration of the Burns Centre and planned expansion of the Orthopaedic centre of excellence at Neath Port Talbot Hospital. The Burns Centre has been established for over 30 years and serves a population of 10m people from Aberystwyth to Oxford. It has a reputation for being one of the outstanding Burns centres in the UK. A recent major investment has allowed for the development of a new bespoke theatre and ITU area, providing excellent facilities and a sustainable model of working. There will also be the opportunity for the successful candidate to undertake a variety of other subspecialty elective work through a number of flexible sessions., Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people. We are a University Health Board working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, the School of Health Science and the Institute of Life Science. The HB has three major hospitals providing a range of services: Morriston and Singleton hospitals in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot.
Mental Health and learning Disabilities services are provided both in hospital settings (Cefn Coed Hospital, Swansea Caswell clinic and Taith Newydd at Glanrhyd Bridgend) and other community settings.
We also have community hospital and primary care resource centres providing clinical services outside the main hospitals.
The Health Board is part of A Regional Collaboration for Health (ARCH), which is a partnership with Hywel Dda UHB and Swansea University. Aimed at improving the wellbeing and wealth of Southwest Wales.
