Full Job Description

We are currently looking for enthusiastic, energetic and motivated care support workers to join our vibrant Day Services team here at Portland charity. We are looking for someone who can help our citizens enjoy their time with us and provide them with access to opportunities that will help to build social skills, confidence and independence, as well as promoting their wellbeing. You will be responsible for ensuring all citizen care and support needs are met, which includes providing personal care, and supporting with feeding and moving and handling. Successful candidates will be experienced in working with a wide-range of individuals with varying care and support needs, including profound and multiple learning disabilities, sensory needs and behaviour support needs. They will be passionate and committed to providing outstanding care and support, positively supporting our citizens to engage with meaningful activities, as well as having the confidence to put forward fresh and imaginative ideas. This varied and active role will involve working with citizens in our main Day Centre on campus, alongside working in the community and at our community hub sites within the local district. You will be supporting citizens varied activities, such as cooking, baking, gardening, sensory activities, and arts and crafts. The role will also involve maintaining accurate records and working in line with citizen care plans; therefore, literacy and basic IT skills are a must. To thrive in this role, you will need to be caring and compassionate towards our citizens; be flexible and have the ability to adapt to the day to day demands of the job, and you will need to have a professional and positive approach towards delivering safe and high-quality care for our citizens. You will effectively communicate and collaborate with a strong and supportive team of professionals within a lively workplace, both within the Day Services and other departments across college, helping to empower our citizens to thrive and have a lifetime of opportunity.   • Completion of the Care Certificate
  • Completion of the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent or be willing to work towards this qualification.
  • Desirable
  • Level 2 or equivalent in Maths and English.

The Day Service is located on the Portland College campus. The core working hours for these posts will be 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday; however, some flexibility is required to meet the needs of the service.
