For our apprenticeships no previous experience is required If you are self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn then this could be for you., For our Level 6 apprenticeship you will need either:

  • 3 A Levels equating to a minimum of BBC, one of which must be Maths at Grade B or above
  • A BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering - DDM to include Further Engineering Mathematics., A Striver: Exhibiting ownership, consistently delivering on tasks and objectives. You'll be motivated and proactive in your tasks, having the desire to make a real difference.
  • A Collaborator: You'll love to work effectively with lots of different people at different levels, all inputting their part towards a shared goal.
  • A Planner: Organising and managing your own activities, dealing effectively with multiple priorities with a structured approach.

Your role: We have an opportunity for a Degree Apprentice (Level 6) Civil Engineer to start in Summer / Autumn 2025 and join our water sector team based in Leeds. Water is one of our most precious natural assets, and our work is key to helping provide innovative sustainable solutions that balance our environmental impact. You will be instrumental in helping to improve the water environment through our projects. Sustainability is key to our purpose, promise, and values and this role is a great fit for someone who is passionate about this and to responding to the impact of the climate emergency. In your day-to-day work you will solve engineering problems, use design software and tools to carry out engineering calculations, develop designs, and produce drawings, reports, and presentations. You'll be doing all this is as part of a friendly and collaborative project team along with the support and guidance of our highly skilled Senior Civil Engineers and Hydraulic Network Modellers. As part of our Leeds water team, you can expect to be part of project teams working on:
  • Managing water resources and reservoirs
  • Producing high-quality drinking water for public supply
  • Distributing water for our communities
  • Protecting the natural environment from pollution
  • Alleviating flooding for local communities
  • Our team in Leeds work closely with our local client, Yorkshire Water, through our Strategic Planning Partnership (SPP) framework. We provide consultancy services to them including strategic studies and investigations, hydraulic modelling, option development and outline design. As an office we have a wide range of disciplines and a focus on Nature Based Solutions. Our office is located right by Leeds train station on Whitehall Quay which is easily commutable by public transport. The Leeds office is a vibrant hub, with collaborative workspaces and a great mix of knowledge people who invest in the development of staff. Our Developing Professionals Group (DPG) is excellent. They hold regular meetings in the office, providing peer support, mentoring and guidance, and a supportive environment in which to learn, develop and grow as an engineering apprentice through knowledge exchange and mentoring.
