Full Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a registered Social Worker with a Best Interest Assessor (BIA) qualification to undertake the role of Coordinator within the Bristol City Council Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Team. This is a Senior Practitioner post.
You will have a sound knowledge of working with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and would be willing to undertake the responsibilities of a BIA if required.
The service consists of a core team of BIAs who carry out the majority of the DoLS assessments for Bristol City Council. As a Coordinator, you will provide reflective supervision to BIAs and provide guidance and advice to the wider Adult Care workforce and external stakeholders, in matters relating to MCA and DoLS.
The administrative tasks of the service are carried out by DoLS Officers, and you will be involved in overseeing their work and contributing to effective service operation. You will be responsible for the induction and training of new starters. You will be supported by the Team Manager and the other DoLS Coordinators in the team.
This role involves the prioritisation and allocation of work. As well as the scrutiny of assessments, ensuring legal compliance and quality assurance. Therefore, being able to make legally defensible decisions as well as provide constructive and defensible feedback to practitioners is a key aspect of this job.
You will have a sound understanding of relevant legislation and case law, with an ability to shape working processes and the skills to build relationships with social care teams and external stakeholders.
Please note that this role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
