Full Job Description

The Deputy Department Manager for T&O Outpatients is an exciting opportunity to hold responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Outpatient team. This involves overseeing all administrative and clerical processes, providing the foundations for the clinical staff to be able to perform their roles in an efficient way. The Deputy Department Manager will support the Service Leads to set and achieve key strategic targets, helping to improve patient care. This role represents a brilliant development opportunity for someone looking to build their management skills in an operational environment., The main duties of the Deputy Department Manager will include:

  • Leading the delivery of the daily operational business of T&O Outpatients.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of strategic plans.
  • Providing senior administrative support and expert knowledge to the T&O OPD clinical team.
  • Holding delegated responsibilities for a range of operational activities, working autonomously using initiative and specialist knowledge and experience of the service to make decisions and help the service to excel.
  • Overseeing all administrative and clerical processes to enable a high quality, effective, patient focused service to be delivered.
  • Line managing the T&O Outpatients administrative team.
  • The role would suit someone who is passionate about driving strategic change to deliver improvements to patient care and staff experience.

    The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest District General Hospitals in the country. The hospital achieved Foundation Trust status on 1st June 2006. The Trust is Reading's biggest employer and may form the central hospital for one of the country's new medical schools. Following the principle of care closer to home, the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust offers services from many locations, including King Edward VII Hospital, Windsor, Windsor dialysis unit, West Berkshire Community Hospital, Royal Berkshire Bracknell Healthspace, Townlands Hospital Henley and there are visiting clinics in Wallingford and Wantage.
