Full Job Description

We are collaborating with a Newcastle primary school to appoint a part-time SEND Teaching Assistant to provide tailored 1:1 support to a Year 1 student with specific needs (Down syndrome). This role offers a rewarding opportunity to support a young learner's development in a nurturing, supportive environment. Working hours are 9 am to 1 pm, Monday to Friday. Responsibilities

  • 1:1 Support: Assisting the pupil with curriculum tasks as directed by the teacher.
  • Inclusive Participation: Supporting the child inside and outside the classroom to ensure they can fully engage in school activities.
  • EHCP Implementation: Assisting with the delivery and monitoring of the student's Individual EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan).
  • Teacher Collaboration: Providing feedback on the pupil's progress and needs to help guide the teacher's assessment.

    Qualifications: A relevant Level 2 or higher qualification in childcare.
  • Experience: Proven experience working with children with additional needs.
  • Passion for Early Education: Enthusiastic about working with young children.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Able to effectively communicate and build positive relationships.
