Electoral Services is a small but very busy service working at the heart of local democracy. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated team player to join our busy Electoral Services team. In this role you will be responsible for providing efficient and effective administrative support in relation to all aspects of electoral registration and election processes.What will you be doing? As an Electoral Services Support Officer you will be the first point of contact for our customers and other stakeholders ensuring queries are handled efficiently and effectively to maintain our high levels of customer service and to promote our One Council values, behaviours and culture. This role involves assisting our small team of Electoral Service Officers to compile and maintain an accurate and complete Electoral Register. You will be checking data and documents for accuracy and using online applications to process confidential information discreetly and tactfully. You will also play a key role in preparing for and delivering all types of elections, to ensure they are delivered effectively and lawfully. You will be assisting colleagues and other stakeholders with arrangements for running elections and other polls ensuring that everyone who is eligible to vote is able to do so.

We are looking for a highly motivated, approachable, and enthusiastic team player. You will have previous experience of working as part of a team delivering a customer focussed service, ideally with experience of participating in elections. You will be able to demonstrate good communication skills and be confident in resolving queries from a diverse range of stakeholders and customers. You will have good levels of IT skills with a working knowledge of MS365 including Word, Outlook and Excel. Ideally you will have experience of using election management software (Xpress), though this is not essential as full training will be provided. You will also be well organised and able to prioritise work particularly where there are a number of competing demands, ensuring high levels of accuracy are maintained whilst working under pressure. You will be friendly and reliable and able to use your own initiative. You must have a flexible approach and be prepared to work outside of normal office hours, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays particularly during the annual canvass and in the run up to elections but also at short notice. You must be willing to take annual leave to fit around the electoral services cycle of work and acceptance that leave will be restricted during Elections and when the Annual Canvass for the register of electors is taking place.
