Full Job Description

North Star Academy Trust is a small multi-academy trust that was set up with the ambition to improve the SEND provision in the South West and provide as many young people as possible with a bespoke, specialist education that is tailored to each individual's needs. We are a small but growing Trust, we currently consist of 3 schools including both Primary and Secondary provisions and we have a fourth school opening in September. We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic and committed assistant to join our engagement team in a safe, secure and welcoming environment. The position involves supporting the engagement team with responding to and de-escalating crisis situations as they arise, supporting pupils with their learning in classroom, collaboratively developing personalised plans for pupils, recording and monitoring data. This position would be suited to a candidate with a proven track record of pastoral care, youth work or school-based behaviour management experience. Students with SEMH needs can display challenging behaviour so exceptional behaviour management skills with the ability to be supportive are a must.

  • Effectively engage students in their studies.
  • Play a proactive and pastoral role in positive behaviour management as well as interacting with the young people during extra-curricular times, encouraging them to participate in the social and academic life of the school.
  • Be flexible, adaptable and have a positive attitude to working in a structured environment.
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues.
  • Have skills of empathy, listening, communication and the ability to respond to unexpressed need.

    In return, we offer a competitive salary, pension, a supportive team, training and development and the potential for career progression to the right person., You will be required to work 35 hours per week, 39 weeks per annum. Actual salary £25,700 - £27,601 p.a.
