Full Job Description

As an Enterprise Coordinator you will engage senior leaders in approximately 25 schools and colleges and match them with an Enterprise Adviser who are local strategic leaders from business and industry. You will support them to develop careers and enterprise strategies and plans to increase the number of meaningful employer encounters and workplace experiences that young people engage in and having a 'whole school' stable careers programme. The Enterprise Coordinator will support the Careers Leader in each participating school and college to progress towards meeting the Gatsby Benchmarks for Good Career Guidance. This is a fantastic opportunity to become an important part of a national movement working to raise the profile of the network and embedding good practice across Leicester and Leicestershire. Based at City Hall with agile working to meet the needs of the business including some homeworking to be agreed within the working pattern of this role. Any additional travel required for business purposes will be paid from the LLEP Offices within City Hall. We will consider this vacancy on a secondment basis for Leicester City Council employees. What you'll be doing As an Enterprise Coordinator (EC) you would sit at the heart of the local Careers Hub helping schools and colleges improve their careers education plans and activities and to engage with the world of work. Your role will be to ensure all participating schools and colleges are matched with an Enterprise Advisor EA, as well as share good practice and support with creating innovative approaches to careers education. You will be expected to provide the technical expertise to facilitate the delivery of Careers Hub programmes and act as an adviser driving the achievement of the Gatsby Benchmarks with schools, colleges, and Enterprise Advisers The Enterprise Coordinator will:

  • Help schools and colleges to improve their careers and enterprise activities and to engage with the world of work.
  • Make it easier for employers and the self-employed to engage with schools and colleges.
  • Support closer working between employers and higher education providers locally to showcase the pathways into different professions and careers.
  • Focus efforts on programmes and activities that are most effective in motivating young people, supporting independent choice, and supporting positive outcomes for young people.
  • Continuously track and evaluate impact of the programme to ensure project success.
  • You will be leading and facilitating meetings between Headteachers, Careers Leaders and Enterprise Advisers often in schools but also on EAs business premises. This could see you using our Compass tool to help a school audit their careers programmes and strategies, development of an action plan and driving forward the careers and education agenda with both Careers Leader and Enterprise Adviser. What You'll need You will have experience of working in or supporting schools or colleges, and an interest in exploring and understanding the challenges that some young people face in accessing the world of work, apprenticeships and higher or further education.

    As an Enterprise Coordinator you will have in depth knowledge and experience of successful employer engagement techniques, whist the ability to demonstrate understanding of employers of different sizes, the local labour market, the skills shortages, and opportunities of growth. If you are an excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills, able to build relationships with ease, can persuade a variety of audiences and encourage others to adopt new ways of working; if you are proactive, well organised, adaptable, and resilient we would like to hear from you.
