Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the new Regional Adoption Agency, Adopt South West in the role of Family Practitioner on a 12 month fixed term contract. You will be based in Devon joining a team of Family Practitioners within the Assessment and Post Adoption Support area of service. Your key role will be to support children and adopters, concentrating on attachment based working models. Family Practitioners will contribute towards assessments; support the identification of an appropriate plan to meet the assessed needs and outcomes. This will require a level of autonomy and a basic understanding of the adoption and legal process. Family Practitioners have a crucial role in establishing and maintaining high quality relationships with service users across the region. You will be expected to establish and maintain a network of contacts across the region and within Local Authorities. You will be expected to attend and participate in meetings as appropriate including statutory reviews. You will need to be an excellent communicator, assertive and confident. Family Practitioners will be required to keep up to date and accurate electronic records of their case work with individual families and liaise with the Advanced Practitioner and other staff and agencies as required. Family Practitioners will attend training/preparation events, information evenings and clinics where adopters and children are provided with additional support, advice and information. They will also provide support to birth families and assist in the management and support of direct and indirect contact. You will receive monthly supervision, appropriate training and excellent peer and team support to enable you to fulfil your role. This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English. The role will include travelling distances within the South West Region to attend meetings and home visits.,
