Full Job Description

The English Department at Sir Thomas Rich's School comprises teachers who are hardworking, passionate about language and literature and whose primary aim is to develop pupils' skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. At present, English is taught by nine teachers, from Key Stage 3 up to A-Level and Oxbridge entry. We are a close knit and supportive team who work together to develop schemes of work and teaching resources to engage our able pupils through innovative teaching and learning strategies, and share best practice. We all contribute to our Department's extra-curricular programme and currently we run a Shakespeare Society including regular visits to the RSC, creative writing competitions and book clubs for each key stage. Founded in 1666 as the Blue Coat Hospital, today Sir Thomas Rich's is a progressive grammar school for boys in Years 7 to 11, and young men and women in the sixth form. GCSE results consistently come in the top 10% for attainment and value added in the country.
