The newly created school will be co-educational for allpupils aged 4-18, creating one school, one community, with one vision.This strategic development allows us to broaden and strengthen our academic provision, whiledeveloping new opportunities and ensuring that access to those opportunities is the same forevery pupil at Merchant Taylors'. The single, co-educational school will be based at the currentBoys' School, which will be known as the Harrison Site.Re-modelling our structure to become co-educational will provide greater operational andfinancial efficiency and will allow the School to help ensure that every pound generated in feeincome from parents is invested to support the pupil experience. Uniting the Senior Schools onone site will mean that we can invest in one estate, refurbishing and developing it to meet, andindeed exceed, the requirements of all our community., digitally acute, operating with the advice of, and in partnership with those at the cutting edge ofchange and with the schools around us. This will ensure that both the new co-educational Senior School,and indeed Merchant Taylors' as a whole, becomes the best future-facing version of itself,understanding and serving the needs of its community as it has done for the last 400 years.The VacancyThe Head of Netball is responsible for the coaching and development of pupils at all levels,delivering outstanding training to enable pupils to achieve their potential. The Head of Netball isdirectly responsible to the Director of Sport for the management, organisation, andadministration of all the relevant sport's activities throughout the School. The individual willtake a lead role in the development of the sport in all aspects of the curriculum and work withthe Director of Sport to ensure a high-quality, modern programme is delivered to all pupilsassociated with the School.Key FunctionTo design, implement, lead and manage efficiently the delivery of Netball, including curriculum,staffing, and resources, to ensure effective outcomes for pupils.Line ManagementResponsible to the Director of Sport and through the Director of Sport, the Head.Specific Tasks:Line Management ofAll appropriate coaching staff for Netball, Strategic Leadership

  • Develop a clear strategy for the continued development of Netball at Merchant
  • Taylors'.
  • Advise the Director of Sport and School Leadership on the changes to the game that
  • have an impact on its provision at school level.
  • Instil high expectations and standards within the Department of pupils, teachers and
  • coaches.
  • Participate proactively in and make significant contributions to the School's wider sports
  • programme.
  • Develop links for Netball with the Primary School and local feeder schools.
  • Work to help to recruit pupils to the school and make the Netball programme appealing
  • to prospective pupils. Build upon the partnerships which already exist with local sports clubs, and continue to develop links between the School and regional and national programmes.
  • Lead by example and 'be the face' of Netball at Merchant Taylors' around the School
  • and in the wider community.,
  • Lead/manage the coaching of all the School's Netball programme [6-18].
  • Lead all off- and pre-season programmes either side of the main competitive season.
  • Maintain personal professional skills through regular INSET and training.
  • Provide opportunities for staff development and promote internal and external INSET.
  • Consideration of the needs of individual pupils to ensure that all pupils are working and
  • developing at an appropriate pace
  • Continue to develop opportunities for Netball within the primary school
  • Administrative Responsibilities
  • Organisation of a balanced fixture card for pupils in all age groups.
  • Organisation of the pre-season training programme.
  • Input of all fixtures and logistical information on SOCS.
  • Booking of referees for competitive senior fixtures as appropriate.
  • Production and regular monitoring of the Netball risk assessment.
  • Work closely with the marketing department to keep the School website up-to-date
  • with fixtures, news reports and success stories, as well as contributing to the department Twitter and Instagram accounts.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Sport firmly establish a touring schedule for Netball
  • and take a lead role in the running of planned trips.
  • Work closely with the Director of Sport to ensure that pitch bookings, transport and
  • catering arrangements are in place for all fixtures and games lessons.Management Responsibilities
  • In conjunction with the Director of Sport effectively allocate and manage the available
  • staffing to all teams and games lessons.
  • Oversee the management and development of the School's Netball facilities.
  • Performance
  • Work closely with the Director of Sport to create and monitor both player and structural
  • pathways, peaking at senior level, to enhance Merchant Taylors' School's reputation in the region and beyond as a place to develop elite level players and attract top talent to the School.
  • Work closely with the Athletic Development team to coordinate and manage all
  • conditioning programmes for the Netball squads.
  • To oversee the use of video analysis across the Netball programme.
  • Participation
  • Provide opportunities for all pupils who play Netball to participate competitively for the
  • school.
  • Organisation of the annual School House Netball tournaments.
  • Create opportunities for Merchant Taylors' School pupils to experience a range of roles
  • within their sport.Wider Community
  • Develop nurture and maintain strong relationships with local prep schools
  • and other feeder schools.,
  • Continue and enhance our well established links with sporting National Governing
  • Bodies, universities, and local clubs to benefit all stakeholders at Merchant Taylors' School.
  • Be an active part of the Merchant Taylors' School partnerships programme to promote
  • sport in the wider community and beyond.General Responsibilities
  • Assist one of Merchant Taylors' School's main summer sports [Athletics, Tennis, or

  • Maintain and update own knowledge and skills in line with legislation and the needs of
