Highly Specialist Psychologist

The MK Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (MK Sp CAMHS-CRHTT: commonly referred to as LIST due to preference of young people) is a specialist provision in Milton Keynes. It is a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) of mental health professionals providing a 24-hour, 7 day per week service to young people experiencing an acute psychiatric/psychological crisis. The team provide an alternative to acute hospital admission by delivering intensive community-based interventions. Where a hospital admission does occur, the MK Sp CAMHS-CRHTT will assist in shortening the inpatient stay by facilitating early discharge and support back to the community. The role of MK Sp CAMHS-CRHTT is to conduct urgent comprehensive mental health assessments for service users and determine as required the need for either home treatment or admission. MK Sp CAMHS-CRHTT robustly review young people who may require an acute admission and consider if they can
provide a less restrictive alternative to hospital admission., The successful applicant will provide a highly specialist psychology service to CAMHS CRHTT including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes. They will lead on the delivery of psychological formulation of service user's difficulties, the development of psychological interventions and evaluation of outcomes as agreed with other senior staff. They will also work with key partners such as the family of the young person, schools and the acute hospital teams. Support of staff in the team through supervision and consultation, teaching and reflective practice will be a key part of the role, overall creating a psychologically safe environment.

The post holder will receive regular supervision and support from the Lead Consultant Psychologist in CAMHS and team manager, as well as peer support and guidance from other team members. They will have the opportunity to become involved with quality improvement projects and other initiatives that enhance the service user experience. They will also be linked in with Trust - wide psychological professions' initiatives and events.
