Full Job Description

As part of an award-winning planning team, you would play a vital role in supporting the wider service in delivering high quality and sustainable developments. With our track record of success, and with momentum firmly established in the Borough, it is an exciting time to join our ambitious and dynamic team. The post will involve providing professional engineering and transport planning advice on a wide range of planning applications, preliminary enquiries and feasibility studies and assisting in the delivery of highway infrastructure for approved schemes. This involves assessing the impact of development proposals on the operation of the highway network and user safety, reviewing the design of schemes, negotiating development-related highway mitigation and improvements, ensuring compliance with relevant Planning Policy, Council Objectives, Standards and Guidelines and working with colleagues on the delivery of highway infrastructure.

We are looking for a Highways Engineer who has substantial experience working in the field of Development Management. This could include experience working in a combination of public and private sector roles. You will be a Member of a relevant organisation (e.g. CILT or IHE) and have demonstrable experience dealing with a wide range of highway matters, particularly proposals for urban regeneration, large scale applications, complex and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) developments.
