o To assist in leading the nursing team in the provision of high quality, research based, nursing care that is patient and family focused.o To act as a leader, advisor and role model to less experienced nurses, ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented and evaluated.o To support the senior sister in the management and facilitation of the development of staff creating an effective team.o To take responsibility for identified management/professional/clinical areas and projects under the direction of the senior ward sister.o To foster a multidisciplinary approach to patient care in line with Clinical Governance

The CCU team prides itself on providing excellent, well-rounded care in acute, interventional and diagnostic cardiology with nurses rotating in Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory and Cardiac Diagnostics. This is a unique opportunity for learning and training in all these specialised areas of Cardiology since most of the other Trusts have dedicated staff for each area.CCU has 6 monitored beds catering to high dependency patients who have acute cardiac conditions such as heart attack, abnormal heart rhythms, valve issues and heart failure. Nurses here are trained to develop a strong eye for clinical deterioration, identify ECG abnormalities and perform special procedures such as CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) and ultrafiltration. Despite having a quick patient turnover, nurses are able to deliver patient-centred in a diverse range of cardiac illnesses., Royal Surrey is a compassionate and collaborative acute and community Trust.
