Full Job Description

To support women in their early pregnancy journey. Be responsible for supporting the gynaecology medical team and sonographers within the early Pregnancy Unit. You will work as part of the multi-professional team providing a high standard of care to women and their families within the integrated gynaecology service.

Be responsible for supporting the consultant and junior doctor's, be an advocate for patients, utilising your experience and knowledge referring to consultant gynaecologist/senior nurse as appropriate and provide on-going care in emergency situations as outlined by protocol until additional support arrives. Support the complex emotions of women and their families experiencing early pregnancy complications.

Provide clinical expertise, knowledge and support to junior team members, and students. Take charge of the department daily routine and deputise for the Senior Sister in her absence. Ensure audits, daily staffing and staffing allocation is completed, appraisals and off duty are completed in a timely manner., The post holder is responsible for the safe and efficient flow of patients through the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit. Ensuring the care and safety of women undergoing diagnostic and treatment procedures alongside the junior doctors and consultants, arranging pre assessment and surgical care for women requiring surgery. Undertaking counselling and providing bereavement support for women experiencing pregnancy loss. Liaising with other members of the MDT, other department teams, specialist nurses and secretaries to support the patient pathways, including clinic preparation. The post holder is expected to support other members of the team including nursing staff, health care assistants and students and work closely with benign gynaecology outpatient's team. The post holder will follow the escalation of emergencies and have skills in how to manage these situations. The post holder will have experience of working in gynaecology care settings and the key principles of delivering care in this
setting.
