Full Job Description

The post involves working in Milton Keynes Specialist CAMHS, a Tier 3 specialist service, incorporating the Single Point of Access (referrals), Core CAMHS (with a mood and anxiety pathway), and an ADHD pathway. The specialist service works closely with the Liaison & Intensive Support (crisis and home treatment) team, Mental Health Support Team (schools-based support), and the Looked After Children service, as well as other partners in education, social care and the third sector. You will join a Consultant Psychologist in Looked After Children team, Senior Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, as well as Psychotherapists, and Family, Arts, CBT, Occupational and EMDR therapists in delivering specialist psychological care to, and in partnership with, diverse young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties and their carers and networks.
The post holder will be responsible for the development and delivery of psychological care; overseeing pathways and waiting lists, innovating where flexibility and creativity are required, and supporting and developing staff our wide multi-disciplinary team in an empowering way.
You will play a key role in the strategic development of services, translating policy into practice and ensuring high quality of care. You will hold a caseload of the most complex and risky young people, bringing their expertise and experience to direct clinical work, as well as to consultation, teaching, supervision and training., You will join a friendly, highly experienced and supportive team of clinicians, with opportunities to work in innovative areas of the service including pathways, waiting lists, referrals processes, etc.
The post holder will need to be a registered, experienced practitioner psychologist.
If your application is successful, you will receive regular supervision and support from the Lead Psychologist as well as benefit from support and guidance from other team members. You will also be linked in with Trust-wide psychological professions initiatives and events.
+ To lead, manage and plan the delivery of a highly specialist psychology and psychological therapies service in and to Milton Keynes specialist CAMHS and personally provide expert clinical and leadership input.
+ To be responsible to the Professional Lead for Psychological Therapies and the Chief Psychologist for the monitoring and implementation of professional standards in the practice of applied psychology and psychotherapy and allied disciplines where needed, in MKsp CAMHS and for the systematic and effective provision of professional, clinical and managerial supervision where appropriate.
