Full Job Description
The Services Engine Performance team is responsible for ensuring LEAP-1A/1B/1C and GE9X overall engine performance meets all customer requirements for thrust and fuel consumption. As an engineer in the Performance team, you will work cross functionally within the Engine Systems team to ensure all program Engine Performance deliverables are met. Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.,
- Lead (with guidance) thermodynamic cycle development work, analysis, and trade studies on the assigned program.
- Own Performance planning, test coverage, and analysis for assigned engine tests.
- Proactively identify engine performance issues and work cross functionally to drive solutions.
- Demonstrate ownership in production and field support activities on assigned program.
- Support the team in preparation for technical reviews.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to less experienced employees.
- Drive proper documentation of all technical work on the assigned program.
- Drives units and/or system level functional performance to deliver customer solutions. Defines and conducts testing of equipment and/or entire systems, identifying the best testing strategy and measurement system. Reports performance with respect to the guaranteed values in accordance with industry codes and standards. Participates in the research, design, development, and enhancement of technologies in the areas of performance, operability, and cost optimization. Can include delivery of customer solutions that properly balance cost and benefit (including architecture, key design trade-offs, flow-down of requirements and flow-up of capability).
- Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
- In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
- A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members.
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college - Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems engineering
- Strong aero-thermal analytical skills., Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- Established project management skills.
- Advanced Degree in Engineering / Technical Field.
- Experience leading gas turbine system level thermodynamic modeling and/or data analysis activities.
- Detailed working knowledge of NPSS. This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
