Full Job Description
To plan and deliver a wide range of challenging, relevant learning and work experiences that ensure all learners can develop and apply the skills, knowledge, behaviours, and attitudes required for the 21st Century learning, life, and work. This role will include delivering on a range of qualifications, including but not limited to Pearson's Level 3 BTEC's and City & Guilds Level 3 T Levels. Delivery for the role may be a mixture of classroom and workshop based., We have a wide range of continuous professional development opportunities including a bespoke Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) programme for our aspiring and existing leaders. Opportunities to achieve Assessor and Teaching Qualifications as well as role specific Professional Qualifications and training opportunities for Business Support staff linked to their role.
- Our teaching staff are supported through our Taking Teaching Higher strategy that focuses on ensuring practitioners have the skill set to utilise up to date evidence-based practice, innovate through technology enhanced learning and have access to relevant continuous professional development opportunities.
- The College offers free membership to its gym for all staff as well as discounted rates in the Hair and Beauty salons, and staff sports sessions such as five aside football, Pilates, and badminton. The College has an employee assistance programme that provides support to both staff and their families and a wellbeing group that meets regularly to champion wellbeing activities for all staff. The successful candidate will have :
- To be a qualified Teacher or willing to work towards.
- To be a qualified assessor or willing to work towards.
- To hold a minimum of a Level 3 in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- GCSEs at Grade C / Level 4 or above in English and Maths, or equivalent. For more details of requirements, please view the attached Job Description for the role. You could be eligible for a Targeted Retention Incentive payment. FE staff that have been employed in the sector for less than 5 years and teach in one of the following courses could be eligible for an incentive payment :
- Building & construction
- Chemistry
- Computing, including digital and ICT
- Early years
- Engineering and manufacturing, including transport engineering and electronics
- Maths

- We support the training of over 2000 apprentices across a 75-mile-wide area of the North East from Newcastle down to York working across a range of sectors partnering with over 1000 employers.

- In 2022 / 23, 96% of learners following a study programme attained a positive destination into further training, apprenticeship, or employment. In the 2024 in-year student exit survey, 95% of students said the teaching on their course was good, and 98% of students said their teachers knew the subjects they taught well. Middlesbrough College is the largest General Further Education College in the Tees Valley with a £120million campus in the heart of Middlehaven. Within the campus there is a main building for full and part-time vocational study, a dedicated Sixth Form, a STEM Centre, a Higher Education Centre, a Digital Centre and the new £14million TTE Technical Training Centre opens in September 2024. Additionally, there is an Adult and Community Learning Centre close by which provides training to hundreds of adults and ESOL students each year with a new purpose-built Centre opening in the Centre of Middlesbrough in the next few years.
Salaries are based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
