Full Job Description
Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) are liable to higher risks than single family accommodation. In Birmingham City Council we want to ensure that residents within HMO accommodations are living in a good standard of accommodation. The HMO Licensing officer position is responsible for licensing HMO and enforcing the relevant standards relating to HMOs. We are looking to appoint a person who is a natural problem solver and loves taking the initiative! We are always looking for ways we can continue to progress our work to improve standards in the private rented sector!
- Knowledge of Housing Legislation and the policies and procedures relating to the Private Rented Sector.
- Knowledge of Licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to work across multiple organisations including colleagues, external agencies, and other customers and/or Landlords.
- Possess good IT skills including the use of MS based windows software
- Ability to input and interpret information from a range of computer packages.
- Ability to listen and talk to customers, to understand their problems and queries and take appropriate action.
- Ability to organise and co-ordinate your work to meet targets and deadlines.
- Ability to undertake or lead on a range of general tasks or processes to meet the needs of the service.
- To understand the requirement of, and be committed to, equal opportunities in all aspects of the role.
- The ability to prioritise your own workload and that of the team to meet pre-set deadlines.
