Full Job Description

The post has responsibilities between trauma and limb reconstruction. The John Radcliffe Trauma Service provides a consultant based care for the local population of Oxfordshire and Thames Valley Major Trauma Network.

The new appointee will form part of a team, managing patients with Musculo-skeletal trauma. The limb reconstruction service is based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and specialises in the management of non-union, bone infection, post-traumatic deformities and sees in excess of 2,000 patients annually.

The appointee will have individual consultant responsibilities, but these will be performed within a team environment, which provides excellent opportunities for further personal and professional development.

The post would be suitable for a fully trained orthopaedic surgeon, with relevant experience from the UK or abroad, who wishes to practice and develop their skills in the management of musculo-skeletal trauma and limb reconstruction, with a strong focus on the management of bone infection and fracture related infection. It is desirable that the candidate can demonstrate fellowship level training in major orthopaedic trauma, and limb reconstruction surgery, with experience in managing bone infection.

Main duties of the job

The post holder's duties will be split between the John Radcliffe Hospital and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, but it is a condition of the appointment that the post holder will be willing to work in any of the Trust's locations.

The appointee will have individual consultant responsibilities, but these will be performed within a team environment, which provides excellent opportunities for further personal and professional development.
