Full Job Description
We have a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join us within our Nuclear Medicine department. The post holder will primarily provide support to the Clinical Scientists within the department with a number of varied and routine tasks and service development, working within a friendly, multi-disciplinary team of physicists, technologists, nurses, radiologists and admin staff.
We currently have a dedicated solid state cardiac gamma camera and three hybrid SPECT CT gamma cameras. We support Sentinel Lymph Node surgery, and carry out a range of molecular radiotherapies, including I-131 ablation, I-131 thyrotoxic, Ra-223 and Lu-177 therapies. We provide technical support to Alliance Healthcare in the provision of a PET/CT service. There are many opportunities for service development and improvement projects.
This post would suit a technologist or radiographer with an interest in Nuclear Medicine or a physics graduate looking to move into a career in healthcare science. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to improve their skills and experience before application to the STP scheme.

+ Participate in the day-to-day supervision of trainee technical staff assigned to Nuclear Medicine, assisting in the delivery of work-based training.
+ Provide expert knowledge in the field of Nuclear Medicine, ensuring that Standard Operating Protocols and other relevant legislation are followed.
+ To liaise with the multi-disciplinary team as required in the performance of duties.
+ Undertake other duties assigned by the Head of Nuclear Medicine Physics

Participate in providing physics support to a high-quality Diagnostic Nuclear Medicine Service, using complex, sophisticated imaging, non-imaging and data processing equipment, ensuring that all procedures are carried out according to written procedures and guidelines.
2. Manipulates radioactive (gamma and beta emitting radioisotopes) patient samples including blood, faeces and urine.
3. To assist in the amendment, and writing, of protocols and workflows used in imaging procedures and data processing.
4. Participate in the programme of quality control for complex Nuclear Medicine equipment as directed by the Head of Nuclear Medicine Physics.
5. To prepare radioactive phantoms for quality control testing of equipment.
6. To process nuclear medicine images and non-diagnostic tests for reporting.
7. To follow procedures for the management of radioactive waste.
8. To participate in the decontamination of Therapy rooms.
9. To aid and support Clinical Scientists in the delivery of the molecular radiotherapy service.
10. To prepare and manage spreadsheets and databases, used for calculation of test results and maintenance of equipment.
11. Ensure that consumable stock levels are monitored and maintained.
12. Ensure that all written procedures are adhered to, and participate in the identification, development, implementation and monitoring of new or revised procedures in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and other Health Care Professionals.
13. Ensure effective multidisciplinary communications across the Nuclear Medicine Service, Clinical Management Groups and other Health Care Institutions.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
Please note if you are successful in obtaining this position and the post involves regulated activity you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service check.
The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment.
The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.
