Operational Manager ICCNS

Due to a retirement in the team we are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and passionate Children's Nurse to join the existing Operational Managers within the Integrated Children's Community Nursing Service (ICCNS).

The Operational Manager (OM) is a key member of the team, managing and providing professional support to varied staff groups across the service.

The Service represents a diverse, dynamic and holistic approach to providing care within the community to children and young people (CYP) with complex health needs, and their families.

The services within the ICCNS encompass a range of varied activities, including continuing care provision, community clinical nurse specialists (such as enteral feeding and palliative care) and an Acute Link service. The service also supports CYP within 2 special needs schools and children with tracheostomies within main stream schools.

The post holder leads and develops the core nursing establishment in the delivery of compassionate, high quality, effective, patient-centred nursing care; and providing fair, honest and measured people management. They will work and communicate effectively as a member of the senior nursing leadership team for the directorate/service, collaborating with other Operational Managers and Senior Nurse.

The OM's also works in partnership with multi-disciplinary agencies ensuring the CYP is at the centre of quality joined up care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide visible, professional nursing leadership, support, supervision and guidance whilst demonstrating the UHB's values and behaviours in everything they do.

The OM works autonomously and as part of the senior management team to plan work schedules in view of daily and weekly management responsibilities along with leadership and supervisory aspects of the role.

The post holder will supervise the professional and clinical work of nursing staff within the ICCNS allocating work effectively, considering skill and competency of staff and patient requirement and delegate the delivery of care where appropriate, in line with NHS Wales' delegation framework.

Be responsible for the efficient management of the service area budget, effectively deploying the nursing team and utilising the allocated resources.

Creating and promoting a learning culture within the service area to support the professional growth and development of all nursing staff and students is an important part of the role.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
