Full Job Description

We are looking for a Glaucoma fellow to join us for an initial one year fixed term appointment. This is a full time post with a minimum of 10 programmed activities. The post will be based at Prince Charles Eye Unit in Windsor (PCEU), Bracknell Healthspace (BRK). The appointee will be expected to become a full member of a progressive and forward looking department involved actively in Clinical Governance and Quality improvement projects. Continuing education, professional development and teaching are actively encouraged and research and audit opportunities will be available., Glaucoma surgery and glaucoma clinics will form part of the timetable and the Fellow will also be expected to contribute to General Ophthalmic, Casualty and Acute Primary care Services. They will be part of the team covering inpatients and on-call work. (NB General cataract surgical training is not provided in this post) The appointee would be required to undertake annual appraisal and contribute towards their professional development plan. The exact details of the job plan will be agreed on appointment and will depend upon the area of expertise of the successful applicant and requirements of the department., All applicants must be able to speak fluent English to an appropriate standard which will be assessed at Interview.   • 5 years experience at specialist registrar level or equivalent, Experience of YAG laser peripheral iridotomies, and Selective or Argon Laser Trabeculoplasties, Full GMC registration/eligible for registration MBBS, FRCOphth (full)

Inpatient care is provided on Dorrell Ward which provides care for Head and Neck patients. There are dedicated eye theatres. The Prince Charles Eye Unit in Windsor is on the site of the King Edward VII Hospital. There are two fully commissioned ophthalmic theatres within the unit undertaking day case admissions and minor operations.
