Full Job Description

This is a 12-month fixed term appointment to the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to work as a Foot & Ankle Fellow, under the supervision of two fellowship trained Orthopaedic Consultants (Mr Robin Elliot & Mr Daniel Marsland) who are sub-specialised in foot and ankle surgery. This role is identified as an important part of the Trust's strategy to remain a preferred provider to local Health Authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups across a wide range of hospital services. The appointment will enhance an existing successful track record of a Unit, which has an enviable reputation for good quality patient care and the determination to build upon this.,

  • Contribute to the provision of a comprehensive, high quality foot and ankle service at the Trust
  • Deliver clinical sessions in out-patients and theatres
  • Take a lead role in the department's current foot and ankle research portfolio
  • Assist in the teaching and training of junior surgical colleagues and allied health professionals
    • The successful candidate will be expected to achieve competencies and objectives during the post that will include:
  • Assessment, investigation and diagnosis of all foot and ankle conditions in out-patients
  • Hallux valgus surgery
  • Lesser toe surgeries
  • Fusions (1st MTPJ, midfoot, hindfoot)
  • Ankle arthroscopy
  • Ankle ligament reconstruction
  • Total ankle replacement
  • Achilles tendon repair (minimally-invasive)
  • Achilles tendon debridement / reattachment
  • Foot and ankle trauma
  • Assessment and treatment of paediatric foot & ankle conditions
    • (Extra sessions delivered as part of the trauma on call service can be discussed at the time of appointment)
