Exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to work as a Team Lead in the Disabled Children and Therapy Service West.
The Disabled Children and Therapy Service are seeking a passionate and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated Children's team. You will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with disabilities to achieve their full potential, promoting independence and improving their quality of life.
The Service & Team:
The Occupational Therapists sit within the West Disabled Children and Therapy team. This team is made up of social workers, disabled children and family workers, SCIP workers and portgage workers. The team works closely with colleagues across social care, education and the NHS. The OT team will work with children and young people from birth to 18 with a range of physical and learning disabilities., As an OT in the Disabled Children and Therapy team you will work collaboratively with families, carers and a wide multi-disciplinary team to assess need, plan intervention and provide expert advice on adaptations, equipment and moving and handling. You will hold a small caseload of children with a range of complex needs. Your intervention will focus on ensuring the safety, well being and engagement in daily activities of disabled children.
You will carry out Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions across children's own homes, schools and short break settings. The role will include attending and leading meetings with other agencies such as health, education and housing.
The role also involves offering formal clinical supervision to band 6 OTs as well as supporting and offering guidance to the rest of the west OT team. This role includes managing the OT waiting list, answering queries that come up from parents of children on the list and also allocating assessments to the other members of the team.
This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.
The post is for 19 hours per week. Ideally these hours should be worked over three days at the end of the week to provide team lead support for the rest of the west team.
