Job Title Performing Arts Technician Location St Mary's Catholic College Responsible To Head of Department Salary Grade Band C, Scale point 4-5 £24,404 - £24,790 FTE (£21,777 - £21,512 Actual following pro rata) Contract This is a full time permanent contract. This post is 36 hours per week, 39 weeks per year plus Inset Days Start date 6th January 2025 Closing date for applications Tuesday 3rd December 2024 at 12.00pm The governors of St Mary's Catholic College would like to invite applications from excellent, enthusiastic and engaging individuals for the post of Art Technician. The successful candidate will provide technical support to the department, by the preparation of tools, equipment, spaces and materials for lessons. The technician role forms a central part of the work of the department and will work closely with teaching staff to support, develop and further extend the work of the department and the experiences of the students.

  • To be part of the Performing Arts team, support students and staff in lessons where required.
  • To carry out appropriate duties when requested by the Head of Department and Head of Faculty.
  • To prepare resources for lessons and support with collating and organising resources within the faculty
  • To design and produce the school's termly newsletter
  • To make a major contribution in the preparation for, and setting up of, exhibitions, displays, framing, displays as directed by the Head of Department/Faculty
  • To assist in the checking and storage of deliveries to Art and Design and other Performing Arts subjects.
  • To ensure that all health and safety documentation is visible and up to date for each item of
  • potentially dangerous equipment within the departments.
  • To undertake, in consultation with the teaching staff, stock checks on equipment and consumables, order consumable items and keep appropriate records.
  • To undertake general maintenance of equipment within the Art and Design Department including Kiln Health and Safety and Practice.
  • To undertake appropriate training and subsequent updating in order to act as the Faculty's First Aider.
  • To promote and operate a healthy and safe working environment in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, including Risk Assessments where appropriate and to ensure that agreed College policies are adhered to.
  • To ensure the department recycles where possible.
